Velma Bourque Dupre''s Obituary
Our mother, Velma Bourque Dupre', 92, has completed her life journey. She passed away at her home surrounded by her children. Velma is now resting in the loving care of Our Father and her beloved husband. Velma was born in Roanoke on August 24, 1920. She enjoyed sewing and home making as well as caring for the elderly and babysitting. She will be sadly missed by three daughters, Martha D. Fruge and husband Earl of Baton Rouge; Rita D. Monceaux and close friend Billy Guidry of Eunice; Becky d. Duplechain and husband Larry of Eunice; one son, Clifton Dupre' of League City, TX; One brother, J.B. Bourque, Jr. of Eunice; nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Agnes Fruge Bourque, Sr.; her husband, Cleveland Dupre; her daughter and husband, Carolyn D. and John Manuel, Jr.; two sisters, Hilda Bourque and Lois Sittig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 24, 2013 at 2 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Father Cedric Sonnier will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Thomas More Cemetery.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Sunday February 24, 2013 from 9 AM to 9 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon David Guillory at 6 PM that evening. The funeral home will reopen at 8 AM Monday for visitation until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harbor Hospice, 5831 I-49 South Service Rd, Opelousas, LA 70570 in appreciation for the loving care extended to our mother and the family during this difficult time.
