Steven "Coz" Mark Fontenot's Obituary
On July 11, 2020 Steven “Coz” Mark Fontenot left this world to join his friends and family in Heaven. Coz was a true Cajun. His life was dedicated to the Cajun culture, as well as the preservation of French Cajun music. He formed a group called Coz Fontenot and the Metro Playboys. In this group, he played the accordion, the fiddle, the drums, harmonica and yes, he did the vocals also. For a while, he lived in Georgia where he again helped to spread the Cajun Culture. Coz was proud to be a Cajun!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Clinton Sensat officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Calvary Cemetery.
At the request of family, visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 PM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. The funeral home will reopen Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 8:00 AM until time of Services.
Coz was born on September 23, 1955, to now deceased Anna Mae Caswell Fontenot and Ariel “Red Fontenot. Also deceased are brothers Wiltz, J.B., Lawrence, David “Porky”, Farrell and sister, Jennifer.
Coz is survived by his brother, Wilber “Will” Fontenot and companion Jenelle and his sister, Sybil Fontenot Israel and husband Brad.
