Roland Miller's Obituary
Roland Miller passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the age of 83. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with David Guillory officiating.
At the request of family, visitation will be held the same day from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Roland proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring with distinction. Throughout his military career, he was awarded numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Vietnam Service Action Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Following his military service, Roland returned home to Eunice, where he remained committed to public service. He was a respected business owner, served on the Eunice City Council, and contributed to his community as a member of the Police and Fireman Civil Service Board.
Roland was a proud family man, a loving husband, and a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He also remained active in civic and veterans’ organizations, including the Eunice Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 129, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8971, Harmony Lodge 410 F&AM, and the Association of the United States Army.
Roland is survived by two sons, Chris Miller (Robyn), Gregg Courville (Ricardo Rojas); four daughters, Deborah Jerry (David), Susan Miller (Martha Morgan), Kim O’Brien (Kevin), Lana Michaud; one sister, Alma Tate; eleven grandchildren, Blake, Katie, Jacob, Andre, Ceslie, Matthew, Trae, Lahna, Lucy, Carter, Beckham; four great-grandchildren, Andre Jr., Marley, Augie and Aurelia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Richard Miller; his parents, Joseph and Nola Miller; three brothers, Timothy Deshotel, Darrell Deshotel, Dillon Johnson and one sister, Diane Myers.
