Phoebe J. Fontenot Coker's Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More
Catholic Church for Pheobe Fontenot Coker, 75, who died on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her daughter's
residence in Eunice, La. Fr. Clinton Sensat will officiate and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in
Oakdale, La.
Visitation will be observed on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Quirk & Son
Funeral Home in Eunice. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon David Guillory. The funeral
home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday for visitation until the time of service.
Pheobe was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church where she was a member of the
Ladies Altar Society and St. Agnes Society. She was a 2nd grade religion teacher at St. Agnes and at
St. Thomas More for more than 15 years.
She was a friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert V. Coker, Sr.; three children, Albert V. Coker, Jr. and
his wife Shirley from Elberfeld, IN, Sandra Coker Ware and her husband Jimmy from Eunice, La, and
David Coker and his wife Robyn from Rogers, AR; five grandchildren, Albert V. Coker, III and his wife
Sarah from Elberfeld, IN, Tina Ragan and her husband Nathan from Mt. Juliet, TN, Magnum Coker and
his wife Summer from Panama City, FL, Kandy K. Andrepont David and her husband Joey from Phoenix,
AZ, and Johnny "Edward" Robinson and his wife Amy from Pine Prairie, La; fifteen great-grandchildren,
Carly, Albert V. IV, Addison, and Connor of Elberfeld, IN and Evan, Kellen, and Arabella from Mt. Juliet,
TN and Lee, Major, and River from Panama City, FL, and Korby Robinson of Pine Prairie; McKenzie, Ava,
and Rowdy from Lawtell, La, and Tucker and Marissa from Oakdale, La.; one sister, Betty Doucet of Eunice,
La; and two brothers, Kenneth Cliff Fontenot of TX and Ronald John Fontenot of Bundicks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Winnie Fruge Fontenot and one sister, Barbara
Fontenot Breaux.
Pallbearers will be: Albert Coker, Jr., David Coker, Jimmy Ware, Steve Babineaux, Korby Robinson, and
Ronnie Fontenot.
Special thanks to Dr. Oscar Rodriquez, Mamou Hospital ICU and everyone on the 2nd Floor, Eunice Manor
Extended Care Unit and the staff from Oak Lane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center for all the love and
kindness y'all have shown our mother. Also, a very special thanks to our friends Steve and Janice Babineaux,
Hospice of Acadiana, plus all the helpers for all the kindness you have shown my family and mom.
