Lydia Gaspard Babineaux's Obituary
Lydia Gaspard Babineaux was born on November 25, 1915, in Eunice, LA, and lived her adult life in the Richard community.
Lydia died peacefully at the age of 102 on Saturday, July 07, 2018, at Eunice Manor after a short illness.
Lydia was a talented seamstress, great cook and good neighbor, caregiver and friend to all who knew her. Her latest contribution was with the Charlene Richard Prayers Cloth Ministry for which she sewed tens of thousands.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Fr. Wayne Duet will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Edwards Cemetery in Richard.
She is survived by four children, Pearl and husband Joe (Murvis) Daigle of Baker, LA, Mary Ann and husband Malcolm Guidry of Richard, Lucille and husband Kelly Hebert of Richard, and one son, Nelton “Brother” Babineaux and wife Mary of Jackson, LA; twenty grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; and forty-nine great great grandchildren.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse Babineaux; her parents, Leonard and Eculedia Johnson Gaspard; six brothers, Walter, Joel, Morris, Noah, Alli, and Louis C. Gaspard; and three infant great grandchildren.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Monday, July 09, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Members of the Charlene Prayer Cloth Ministry will pray a rosary on Monday at 6:00 PM. The funeral will reopen on Tuesday for visitation at 8:00 AM until time of service.
