Karen Ann Bergeron Johnson's Obituary
Karen Bergeron Johnson, age 64, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by love. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
At the request of family, visitation will be held the same day from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM, at which time Deacon Gary will pray the Rosary, followed by Services.
Karen is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Burson; her brother, Gary Bergeron and his partner Kent Mire. She is survived by her children: Kylie Doucet and her husband Trevor, Leslee Picou and her husband William, and Taylor Johnson and his wife Tiffany; the father of her children, Gordon Johnson. She is survived by her step-brothers, Benjamin Burson, Isaac “Zac” Jackson Burson, III and his wife Julie, and their two children, Hannah and Camille Burson; and step-sister, Myra “Sissy” Burson.
Karen was a proud grandmother to six cherished grandchildren, Valerie Johnson, Caroline Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Slade Picou, Wes Johnson, and Sydney Picou, each of whom held a special and irreplaceable place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lylon Bergeron and her step-father, Isaac “Jack” Jackson Burson, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Rose and Dewey Martel; paternal grandparents, Cineas Sevord “C.S.” and Beatrice Bergeron.
Born in Houston, Texas, Karen later made her home in Eunice, Louisiana, where she built a life grounded in family, hard work, and quiet strength. She dedicated 29 years of faithful service to Sunland Construction, where she was known for her reliability, dedication, and unwavering work ethic. Karen was someone others could always depend on, both professionally and personally.
Above all else, Karen loved her family. She was a devoted mother and a proud, loving grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. Her warmth, steady presence, and gentle care left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Karen’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply, the years she gave so faithfully, and the love she shared so freely. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the unwavering love she had for those closest to her.
