JB is survived by three daughters, Cynthia L. Courville, Kathleen LeJeune, Delores L. Dietrich and husband Michael; two grandchildren, John Bryant LeJeune, Dora Rogers and her husband Damian, two great-grandchildren, John Christian LeJeune and Abbe LeJeune.
Dad was the last of nine children born to Adolph and Odile Matte Lejeune. He was born in the Prudhomme Community near Church Point. He was born premature at home and was placed in a cloth lined box in front of the wood burning stove to keep him warm. The homemade incubator worked because he celebrated his 94th birthday on September 5, 2023.
Dad met the love of his life, Mary Velma Guidry, in 1952 and they were married December 7, 1952. They were married for 60 years until her death on July 10, 2013.
Dad was a an extremely proud American and a proud veteran of the Korean War. He served in the Army in the 40th division of 578 brigade. He was drafted February 4, 1953 and was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal on January 07, 1955. He did Basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, located in Ozark Mountains.
He arrived in South Korea on September 1953 and was stationed in the Chorwon Valley, which was in the demilitarized zone. Dad drove a bridge truck hauling engineering supplies to the front line.
On his return, Dad returned to work for Borden's Milk, delivering dairy products through out Acadia and St. Landry Parishes. He was a great ambassador for Borden's for 30 years. We think better than Elsie the Cow.
Upon retirement from Borden’s, he worked for the City of Eunice as their Street Commissioner. He worked with the city until the age of 78 years old.
Dad taught his family so many life lessons. He taught us to love God, Country and Family. He taught us to pray, be kind and be accountable for our actions. Dad was/is a MAN to be REMEMBERED. He will be sorely missed. Our comfort comes in knowing that he is with Momma, his Mom and Dad and those that have gone before him enjoying his heavenly reward.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Velma Guidry LeJeune; his parents, Adloph and Odile Matte LeJeune; three brothers, Joseph, Leonce and Thomas LeJeune; five sisters, Sadie Marcantel, Rosemary Doucet, Ella Sattler, Hazel Perkins and Leota Lantier.
We want to sincerely thank the entire staff of Eunice Manor for the great care he was given, but as important for the respect, dignity and compassion Dad was given. Thank you.
