A life-long resident of Richie, Louisiana, John took pride in the beautiful life he and his wife, Marie, built together. In his early adulthood, John served in the U.S. Army as a Morse code operator in Germany. After retiring from ANR Pipeline 30-years ago, John took stock in his blessings and truly enjoyed life, raising livestock, gardening, and hunting. His best moments, though, were spent with those he held dear. John had a great capacity to love, which led him to touch many lives in his long life.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Rougeau Andrus, and their five children: Sharon Wiley, Jody Andrus, D. Matt Andrus (Jacqueline), Jann Blanchard, and Samuel A. Andrus. Left to cherish his memory are his 17 grandchildren: Leon, Adam (Jenay), Logan (Heather), Sarah (Seth), Lucas, Jessica, Ashley, Amanda (Joseph Patrick), Zachary, Jordon, Allison (Alex-Keith), Alex (Raven), Hunter (Katie), Cody, Adrien (Victoria), Kyle (Grace), and Drew, 28 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Tracy Andrus, Godchildren, Rhonda K. Andrus and Jacob LaFleur, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Alpha “Soul” Andrus and Hazel Miller Andrus, brothers Warren, Lloyd, Luke, Dillard, Michael, and Leon Andrus, sister Anna Rae Rickerson, and son-in-law, Steven Wiley.
Pall bearers are Zachary Wiley, Logan Andrus, Kyle Sorrows, Adam Blanchard, Hunter Andrus, and Drew Andrus. Honorary pall bearers are Greg Brown and Linus Jordan.
