7-4-2012Jerry and I are saddened at the passing of Aunt Joesie. As I was growing up, I always thought of her as a very polite, poised, and loving person. Those closest to her will surely miss her and the love and support that she gave to all of her family. My Mother and Father (Nell and Elby) felt close to her and her husband (my Uncle Paul) all the days of their lives. After my Father died (Elby), I read a letter that he had written to Aunt Joesie during WW II. It was a time when he was receiving military training in the United States. Mother (Nell) was trying to follow him from base to base, while toting me along. Apparently money was very short. The letter to Aunt Joesie asked for $10 to get them through a rough spot. That request doesn't sound like much today, but in the early 1940s, it was large. For some reason, I often think of that time' and those young people; of the request and to whom the request was made.I don't know the resolution of that request, but I feel sure that Aunt Joesie responded in support of her younger brother and sister in-law, who were in need. Most of us know where to go when we really need help. You have known of people who are call the anchor or corner post to a family. We can all agree that my Aunt Joesie was one of those people. She will be missed and we are all diminished by her passing.Daryl and Jerry McManus
