JoAnn Frey Fontenot's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of JoAnn Frey Fontenot, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord. JoAnn passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 91.
JoAnn was a woman of prayer who lifted her family daily in faith, entrusting each of them to God’s loving care. Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved dearly and supported with steadfast devotion. A woman of deep Christian faith, JoAnn’s love for Jesus guided every step of her journey, and her legacy of prayer and love will continue to bless generations to come.
She found joy in traveling and exploring the world, creating cherished memories along the way. But her truest happiness was always found in time spent with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and delight.
JoAnn’s life was a living testimony of faith, love, and family. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and unwavering belief in God’s promises.
Her family and friends rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her.
JoAnn is survived by two daughters, Angie Jarreau (Colonel Matt), Monica Durapau (Keith); four grandchildren, Derrek Fontenot (Rebecca), Chelsea Bertrand (Tyler), Bryce Durapau, Claire Durapau; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Fontenot, Walker Fontenot, Jace Bertrand and Allie Bertrand.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Fontenot; her parents, Elton Frey and Elta LeDoux Frey.
