Jeanne Mac Savoy Miller's Obituary
Jeanne Mac Savoy Miller passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
She was born in Eunice, Louisiana on September 25, 1931.
Jeanne, a lifelong resident of Eunice, graduated from St. Edmund High School and went on
to earn her nursing degree at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. In 1952, she married
Alexandre Clifton "A. C." Miller, M.D., and remained his loving wife for 62 years.
Volunteering played an important role in Jeanne's life. She was an active member of St. Anthony
of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice, where she taught religious education to special needs students,
served as a lay minister and volunteered in the administrative offices of the rectory. She was also a
member of the St. Edmund's Parent Teacher Committee and Steering Committee of the St. Edmund's
Spring Fair. Jeanne was a St. Edmund's room mother many times over and volunteered her time as a
Camp Fire Leader. Lastly, she was a volunteer for the Cancer Association of St. Landry Parish and a
member of the St. Landry Medical Auxiliary.
Jeanne was an avid fisherwoman who enjoyed catching brim and perch with the ladies at her camp on
Old River. A true competitor, Jeanne played tennis for most of her adult life. She also loved to read, cook,
and garden and had an affinity for homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers. But Jeanne's heart belonged to
her family and her close friends as she was an epic entertainer who opened her home to family and friends
on just about any occasion she could find. And, in the later years, she poured out her time and her love to
her grandchildren, whom she cherished as they were her pride and joy.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her father and mother, Maxin Savoy and Esther Lafleur Savoy; and daughters,
Catherine Marie and Cynthia Marie. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Alexandre Clifton Miller III
and wife Aneda Uzzo of Eunice; daughters, Claire Miller Jazwick and husband Andrew Vern of Arlington, VA; Celeste Marie
Miller and husband John David Brooks of McLean, VA; and Charice Miller Hebert, M.D. and husband Richard Lynn
Hebert, M.D. of Eunice. She is also survived by her sister Marie Louise Guillory of Burleson, TX and brother Clarence
James Savoy and wife Barbara of Eunice; and her grandchildren, Nancy Smith, Grayson and Olivia Jazwick, Benjamin
Brooks, and Samual, Clayton and Andrew Hebert.
Jeanne's family would like to thank the countless friends, family and caregivers for all their prayers and kindness over
the past months.
