James M. Fruge's Obituary
James "Merlin" Fruge, age 69, of Eunice, La., died Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La. Merlin was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on February 16, 2001. He received his first chemo treatment in 2001 and had 5 treatments total. He fought a long courageous battle, 7 years and 8 months, with many ups and downs surprising even his Oncology doctor. Donations can be made to the Lymphoma Society in Merlin's name.
After graduating from Eunice High School in 1957, Merlin joined the United States Air force on August 7, 1957. He served as a Radar operator from 1957 until his honorable discharge on March 17, 1961.
Merlin then returned to Eunice and began working for the oil industry. He married Katherine Marie Wayne on November 3, 1962. They have been married 46 years. During their marriage Merlin worked in the offshore drilling industry and retired from that work in 1994, at the age of 55 years.
Merlin had many friends and work colleagues whom he worked with that will truly miss his honest and straight forward approach to life. Merlin touched the lives of many people and helped train younger workers on the importance of an honest days work for an honest days pay. May his soul rest in peace in the eternal glory of our father and savior Jesus Christ.
Merlin is survived by his wife Katherine W. Fruge of Eunice, La.
