Jack Burson was the consummate Southern gentleman: highly intelligent, articulate, gracious and of high moral character. His accomplishments at USL and Tulane Law School were legendary. Jack could have risen to great heights on the statewide political scene but chose instead to devote his talents and energy to the practice of law and to serving his community. He was a genuine Christian, a devoted family man and a true friend. He was a strong, skillful advocate for his clients but never strayed from being professional and courteous toward his opponents and respectful to the courts. There was an aura about him that commanded, not demanded, admiration and respect. He was truly a giant in the legal community of St. Landry Parish. I was fortunate to have worked with him on a number of legal matters and feel privileged to call him a close personal friend. It can be truly said of him: "Well done, my good and faithful servant." My deepest condolences go to his family whom he loved so much. Jimmy Dauzat
