Heartsease Armand Rozas' Obituary
Heartsease Armand Rozas passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Hampton Davis Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
At the request of family, visitation will be held at St. Anthony’s from 1:00 PM until time of Service on Wednesday.
Heart Rozas was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with accomplishments, service to her community, and unwavering faith. Born and raised in Chataignier, LA, she excelled academically, graduating as the Valedictorian of Chataignier High School’s class of 1954. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to earn a BS in Nursing from South Louisiana Institute, laying the foundation for a successful career dedicated to caring for others.
As the Director of Nursing at Moosa Memorial Hospital, Heart demonstrated her commitment to providing quality healthcare. Later in her career, she shared her expertise by teaching CNA training at the Eunice Vocational School. However, her life took a sudden turn when her daughter Monique was involved in a serious car accident. Heart and her husband Shorty embarked on a journey across the country to ensure Monique received the best possible care exemplifying her dedication to her family.
In addition to her many other accomplishments and attributes, was also honored as Woman of the Year, a testament to the profound impact she had on her community and beyond. This recognition further underscores her dedication, leadership, and exemplary character, solidifying her legacy as a woman of extraordinary influence and inspiration.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Heart was known for her grace and elegance, traits that extended to her love for beautiful surroundings and a well-tended yard. Her passion for birds, impeccable taste in home décor, and enjoyment of travel added layers to her vibrant personality. She savored life’s simple pleasures, indulging in an occasional margarita or glass of wine and cherishing moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Above all, Heart’s enduring legacy lies in her unwavering faith and her ability to face life’s challenges with strength and grace. She generously gave back to her community through organizations like the Junior League, Garden Club, and St Edmund’s Catholic School, embodying the spirit of service and compassion.
As we remember Heart Rozas, we recall a woman of Christ, whose beauty radiated from within, whose life was a testament to grace and elegance and whose love touched the hearts of all who knew her. Though she has found her final resting place, her memory will continue to inspire us until we meet again.
Heartsease is survived by her husband, Ray “Shorty” Rozas; her three children, Vanessa Pitre and husband Jace, Jacques Rozas, Monique Rozas; seven grandchildren, Sarah Ramirez (Gerardo “J.J.”), Mathew Trenchard (Shanna), Alex Rozas, Kramer Rozas (Madison), Jace Pitre, Jr., Carly Pitre, Jessica Martin; sixteen great-great grandchildren, Harper, Aiden, Miles, Greta, Samuel, Maverick, Nora, Camryon, Cristian, Cayden, Cali, Ben, Vivian, Chloe, Hunter, Zariah; bonus daughter, Ginger Rozas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Armand, Sr. and Edna LaFleur Armand; three brothers, C.J. Armand, II, Lester Armand, Earl Armand; three sisters, Viola Aguillard, Wilma Dupre and Georgie Capell.
Pallbearers are Derrick Jenkins, Alex Rozas, Kramer Rozas, Mathew Trenchard, Freddie Fruge, Craig Soileau, Darrel Smith and Dale Sittig.
