Ethel René Simien's Obituary
Ethel René Simien passed away on Friday November 15, 2013 at the age of 73.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mallet. The Mass will be celebrated by the Pastor of St. Ann's and Priests from the Dioceses of Lafayette. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Matthew Simien of Opelousas; two daughters, Germaine S. Elliott and her husband Ricky and Francesca Simien, both of Mallet; two sons, Father Gregory Simien of Leroy and Terrance Simien and his wife Cynthia of Lafayette; three sisters, Antoinette René of Mallet, Theresa Auzenne of Mallet, and Pansy Fontenot of Opelousas; one brother, Eddie René of Leonville; three grand children, Derrick Elliott and wife Erin, Dustin Elliott and wife DeKeatra, and Marcella René Simien; and two great grand children, Kaelyn Elliott and Gia Grace Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Mary Gobert René; eight brothers, Austin René, Lawrence René, Nelson René, Clifford St. André, Leo St. André, Dewey René, Davis René, and Willie René; and six sisters, Mary René Belson, Delores René Gallow, Irma St. André Fontenot, Magda St. André Thibodeaux, Merline René, and Helena René.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Thursday November 21, 2013 at 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed by Father Gregory Simien at 9 a.m. Quirk & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
