Elwanda Fontenot passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018, at the age of 77. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 11:00 AM. at First Pentecostal Church of Melville. Burial will follow at Bayou Rouge Pent Read Obituary
I was thinking of her this morning and how she could make anyone laugh. Like the time she led the singing at our church in Eunice and something got her tickled and she giggled through the whole song. I remember the song to this day, the old gospel ship :)

We are all growing older - but Sis. Elwanda certainly was one of the strongest and most colorful influences on my life as a boy here in the country. A person that knew how to make something from nothing, share, and give with the kindest Godly spirit. The greatest cook, a faithful Servant of God - surely she has entered the Pearly Gates with praise. I have such a clear visual of this. It makes me happy and strengthens my hope. Honored to have known her. Lord bless all whom she affected.
Loved this woman who taught us to make a Cajun gravy like no one else could.

So sorry to hear this news. God used her to speak into my life as a teenager and it came to pass. We were out of the country so are only seeing this post today. God bless alm if you.
