Elva "June" Williams Bankston's Obituary
Elva June Williams Bankston, born 5/19/43 in Beaumont, TX, to Ms. Aline Leviness & Mr. Forrest Williams, transitioned gracefully from this physical world 10/31/20 at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA, with family by her side.
A flute player, majorette & graduate of Lafayette High School, Elva June made many places home over the course of her journey: Texas, Louisiana, North Dakota, Tennessee & Arkansas. She participated in building and upholding community through many local and non-profit groups wherever she went.
Observant and curious, she loved reading, gardening, crafts, quality moments with strangers, friends and family. She treasured each and every human being, nature, plants & animals. She believed in the interconnectedness and divine union of all things. Deeply spiritual, her love for humanity bridged all backgrounds and faiths.
Humble, thoughtful, generous, kind and loving, Elva June approached life with patience, perseverance, grace, humor and faith. She lived her life in quiet service to others, knowing what a difference a million small acts by each individual can make in the lives of those around them.
She is survived by her beloved sister and her three children. All who will carry on her legacy of gentle kindness, giving, empathy, resilience, love and wisdom.
Per her wishes, no formal service for grieving will be held. Instead, she asked that all who knew her celebrate her life in their own comfortable, private way.
