Beulah S. Gil's Obituary
A funeral mass for Mrs. Beulah Smith Gil, 92, will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 10 AM, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Fr. Cedric Sonnier will officiate.
A rosary will be prayed on Monday evening at 7 PM.
Mrs. Gil passed away at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Mrs. Gil was born to Theodore and Lillian Guidry Smith in Grand Coteau, LA. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Colege in Grand Coteau where she earned a teaching degree. She came to Eunice in 1935 to teach, along with three classmates, Rena Ardoin, Dolores Arnold (dec) and Tibby Quirk (dec). She taught at Eunice Elementary School for 33 years.
She is survived by her daugher, Paula Gil Stelly and her husband, Harold of Leonville, LA; her sons, William "Billy" P. Gil, Jr., and his wife Linda Larson of Eunice & R. Keith Gil of Eunice; one brother, lloyd C. Smith of Port Allen, LA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Gil, Sr.; her parents,Theodore"Theo" & Lillian Guidry Smith; brother, Louis Raymond Smith; sister,Ivy Mae Smith Richards.
Pall Beares for Mrs. Gil's funeral will be her grandsons, Bill Gil, Edward Gil, Robert Gil, Brandon Gil, Paul J. Gil & Daniel Dugan; Honary Pall Bearers will be, Chuck LaLonne, Chris LaLonne, Pat Landreneau, & Bryan Gil.
