May peace and comfort be with you and your family at this difficult time.
It is with great honor, to have known, “Mrs. Mathilda”. The one and only “Mathilda’s Country Kitchen”. Mrs. Mathilda was a successful Black American Woman who mastered the skill of Entrepreneurship in the Restaurant Business. Always, greeted you with a smile, and nothing but kind words. This Woman was very Humble. She did not use her success to gain social status, she was the person that GOD ordered her to be. I had the opportunity to work with her on Sunday, mornings as part of the kitchen crew for all of St. Mathilda's Spring Bar-b-que dinners. Each plate had a significance and had to be just right before reaching a customer. I learned a lot from this lady. I am not only speaking for myself, but for all of the ladies who had the opportunity to work with you. We will miss you dearly, and so grateful that we have had the opportunity to have you pass our way. To her loving daughters and family, be proud of your mother, she accomplished so much, and had the strength and courage to be successful even when the odds were against her. Your mother made history in the city of Eunice, an built a legacy that you can be proud of there will be no other “Mathilda’s Country Kitchen” and just know that she set the bar High for others to follow. From myself, and all of the St. Mathilda’s Church Sunday morning kitchen crew, You have our most gracious and sincere sympathy. We all loved her, but We know that GOD LOVED her best. Mrs. Mathilda will remain in the hearts of many and will always be with her family in spirit.
With Deepest Sympathy, For the Family

Mrs. Johnwell, a former student and very dear friend of our family, will remain in our memories. She was one of the young ladies in the class I sponsored, her business was across the highway from our house and we were frequent customers and she was an active member of our church. There are so many things we can relate to her and her family. I also taught her brother and beautiful daughters! Mathilda was a kind and sweet person. We loved her and will remember her as we keep her family in our prayers. Rest In Peace dear friend!
