Theresa Ellena René Auzenne passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Reverend Stanley Jawa, SVD officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. At the request of family, visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until time of Services with a Rosary prayed at 9:00 AM at St. Ann's. Theresa dedicated her life to nurturing young minds in the Lawtell community, where she inspired generations of children as a preschool teacher at Lawtell Head Start for 32 years. A proud graduate of Louisiana Tech with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Theresa's passion for teaching was matched only by her warmth and generosity. Beyond the classroom, Theresa was known for her extraordinary pie-making skills, delighting friends and family with her delicious creations. Her home was always brightened by her beautiful flowers, a testament to her love of gardening and her ability to cultivate beauty wherever she went. Theresa is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Abraham Auzenne; her son, Dwight Auzenne (Archon); her daughter, Adrienne Auzenne; her sister, Antoinette Margaret René; and her four grandchildren: Jasmin Auzenne Anzures (Brendan), Steven Auzenne (Olivia), Miles Nicholas (Sammi), and Alex Nicholas. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Mary Gobert René; nine brothers: Austin René, Lawrence René, Nelson René, Clifford St. Andre, Leo St. Andre, Dewey René, Davis René, Willie René, and Eddie René; and eight sisters: Helena René, Mary René Belson, Delores René Gallow, Irma St. Andre Fontenot, Magda St. Andre Thibodeaux, Merline René, Pansy Fontenot, and Ethel René Simien. Theresa's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
