Thelma especially loved to dance, and some of her happiest memories were those spent dancing with Russell.
Thelma Rene McCauley LeJeune, passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on November 13, 1937, to the late Leonce McCauley and Eudie Johnson McCauley.
Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Russell Charles LeJeune, just three weeks ago. Thelma and Russell shared 69 beautiful years of marriage, building a life and raising a large family together. Thelma especially loved to dance, and some of her happiest memories were those spent dancing with Russell.
Thelma took great pride in her family and treasured family gatherings filled with good food, laughter, and togetherness. She was a wonderful cook and loved preparing meals for those she loved. She also enjoyed her visits to the beauty shop and greatly valued the companionship of her many dear lady friends.
After retirement, Thelma spent many years working at the Cajun Music Hall of Fame Museum, a job she truly enjoyed. She made many wonderful memories during her time there and took great pride in being a part of the museum.
Her love will continue to live on through many generations.
Those left to cherish Thelma’s memory include her daughters, Stephanie Edwards; Tarrel Bollich and husband David; Lisa Arabie and husband Darrell; and Pamela Watson and husband Dennis; her fourteen grandchildren, Matthew Edwards and wife Carla, Adam Edwards, Benjamin Bollich, Erin Ficklin and husband Patrick, Jacob Bollich and wife Nellie, Jackie Millet and husband Cade, Jessica Hill and husband Blake, Catherine Bollich, Joseph Bollich and wife Lacie, Jeremy Smith and wife April, Daniel Arabie and wife Nicole, Thomas Arabie and wife Isabella, Johnathan Watson and wife Tricia, and Stephanie Watson; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Charles LeJeune; her parents, Leonce McCauley and Eudie Johnson McCauley; her grandchildren, Caroline Bollich and Christopher Watson; an infant brother; and her sister, Tarrel McCauley.
Thelma leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, friendship, and cherished memories. She was especially proud of the large family she and Russell created together, and her love will continue to live on through many generations. Though she and Russell were separated for only a short time, they are now reunited once again, dancing together in eternity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Fr. Hampton Davis officiating. Visitation will take place at Quirk & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday beginning at 8:00 AM, with a Rosary prayed at 10:00 AM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice.
