Richard Wayne Gaspard passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 1, 1958, Richard will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who knew him.

Richard built a life marked by dedication, skill, and a strong connection to the things he loved most. He was a well-known taxidermist for over 40 years, a craft that reflected both his patience and his respect for the outdoors. He was also an avid deer hunter, and that passion was a meaningful part of his life. Richard was a member of the Mamou High School Class of 1977, where he made a lasting impression through his high school football career and still holds many records there, an achievement remembered with pride.

Above all, Richard will be cherished by his family. He is survived by his wife, Amy Gaspard; his son, Devin Johnson; and his daughter, Kaley Gaspard. He also leaves behind his sister, Rhonda Broussard, and his brothers, Elroy Gaspard, Gregory Gaspard, Michael Gaspard. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of Richard and the lasting bond they shared with him. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis C. Gaspard; his mother, Florence Boone Gaspard; and his brothers, Floyd and Timothy Gaspard.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 1:00 PM at Unity Baptist Church in Lawtell. Pastor Gregory Gaspard will officiate. 

Richard Wayne Gaspard will be remembered for the life he built, the work of his hands, the strength of his character, and the love he gave to his family. His memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.
