Tribute to Pops Pat
My name is Laura "Ladé" Haynes, and I’m the sister of Patricia Godfrey. Pops Pat and I continued to have a close relationship even after his and my mother’s relationship ended. Over the years, we stayed in touch — sharing laughter, stories, and memories.
I’ll never forget the first time I tried boudin sausage. We were in California at his stepmother Ruth’s house, sitting on the porch. I’ve always been a picky eater, but Pops said, “Ladé, this is good — try it.” I did, and I loved it! That was just the kind of person he was — full of warmth, humor, and charm, without even trying.
Pops Pat had a way of making people smile simply by being himself. He will truly be missed and forever loved. God’s Word tells us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Well done, Pops. I love you, and I’m comforted knowing you’re in a better place — no more pain, no more worry, no more sorrow.
Love always,
Ladé (Lady)
