Brother Orville Kenneth Rogers passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 82. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Reverend Josh Johnson officiatin Read Obituary
I just learned of Orville's death. Orville and I lived on opposite corners of the same block our senior year in high school and attended the same church in Snyder. We joined the Army in 1959 under the "Buddy Plan" and went through basic training and then served together in Alabama and Germany until he was discharged in August 1962. He was always someone you could trust to do the right thing and I was honored to be his friend.
Orville was an amazing person. I can remember him being around my whole life with Uncle Gene, Aunt Louise, Ben, Bertha, Lynn and Laverne. These people were all a huge influence in my life. Orville always had a ready smile and a warm hug for everyone. God gained a great one and I know there was rejoicing in heaven!!! Orville will be missed by so many. Hugs and love to Mary and the family!!!
God blessed the world when he sent Orville Rogers into it to be his servant. It was my blessing to have known him for years. In all those years I know of nothing negative or derogatory that could ever be said about Orville. Those who knew him loved him. His churches loved him. He loved all.
As his Director of Missions in the Texas Panhandle I saw him repeatedly reach out to encourage fellow pastors, oft time when they found themselves in problems they themselves created. He was there to encourage and lift them up, oft times being the only one to do so as others avoided the situation. God's great servant Orville will be missed.
