Ollie Jane Richard David, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished presence in her family’s life, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2026, just shy of her 84th birthday. Born on June 30, 1942, Ollie Jane’s life was marked by an unwavering devotion to those she loved, a devotion that infused every moment she shared with her family.
She was a woman who lived for her family, finding joy in the simplest and most meaningful moments. One of her fondest memories was hearing her family laughing and playing together in the kitchen, a sound she lovingly called her “cackling hens.” This simple pleasure was a testament to the warmth and closeness that defined her household, a place where love blossomed and memories were made.
Ollie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Charles” David, Jr., whose partnership and love shaped much of her life’s journey. She also mourned the loss of her son, Blaine David; her parents, Leon Richard and Lula Johnson Richard; her daughter-in-law Veronica David and great-grandson Gavin David, each deeply missed by all who knew them.
She leaves behind a legacy of love carried forward by her son, Blake David; daughter-in-law, Sandra Darbonne. Her family blossomed under her nurturing care, growing to include six grandchildren: Brandy Lovett (Laura), Jeffery David, Lacy Oliver (Steven, Jr.), Taylor Stelly, Kenny David (Leslie), and Sidney David. The joy of her life extended further to twelve great-grandchildren—Steven Oliver III, Ethan Oliver, Christopher Oliver, Lillian Oliver, Talan Stelly, Izzy Stelly, Ivy Hendricks, Kannon Stagg, Marissa Stagg, Andrew David, Grayson Lafleur, and Alexander Lafleur—each carrying a piece of her heart and spirit into the future.
The family will gather to celebrate and remember her life with a visitation on June 19, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice, LA, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. by Father Sam Fontanta. Visitation will resume following morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Keenan Brown Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Ollie Jane Richard David’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the enduring spirit of family. She will forever be remembered not only for the warmth she brought into her home but also for the lasting impact she had on the hearts of those privileged to know her. Her joyous “cackling hens” may now be quieter, but the echoes of her love will resonate in her family’s lives forever.
