His loved ones will fondly remember his familiar sayings, especially his favorite, “What da world.”

Morris Mandel Ashworth, a resident of Eunice, LA, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the age of 62. He was born on October 22, 1963, in Alvin, Texas.

Morris found joy in fishing and had a passion for landscaping and carpentry throughout his life. Above all, he treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for children extended far beyond his own family, and he was affectionately known as “PawPaw” to many. His loved ones will fondly remember his familiar sayings, especially his favorite, “What da world,” which will forever bring a smile to those who knew him.

His memory will be cherished by his children, Kevin Ashworth (Casey), Tiffany Roberson (Morris), and Amber Ashworth (Devin Hughes); Annalee “Mamalee” Thibodeaux, whom he loved as a second mother; five brothers, Patrick Ashworth, Perry Ashworth, Chad Ashworth, Leray Catoire, and Richard Landreneau; and two sisters, Rebecca Mazeau (Daniel) and Sheila Ashworth. He also leaves behind his beloved friend and right-hand man, Kenneth Thibodeaux.

His legacy of love lives on through his nine grandchildren, Asia Sams, Jaylyn Roberson, Maeleah Roberson, Morris “Deuce” Roberson II, Bryce Ashworth, Caleb Ashworth, Chloe Ashworth, Haileigh Hughes, and Camryn Hughes; and four great-grandchildren, Milani Sams, Hendrix Sams, Giovanni Populus, and Ivy Populus.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin Leon Ashworth and Elrina Catoire; his granddaughter, Lilly Belle Ashworth; his brother, Mervin “Bubba” Ashworth; and his sister, Brenda Ashworth.

A private celebration of Morris’ life will be held at a later date.

Morris will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many children who knew and loved him as “PawPaw.” His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
