Mildred Langley Cowart's Obituary
Mildred Langley Cowart passed away after several years of declining health on October 15, 2014 at the
age of 93. She was a native and lifelong resident of Basile, LA until 2012 when she moved to the Estelle
Bonura House in Baton Rouge, LA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic
Church. Father David Hebert will officiate. Interment will follow at Langley Cemetery in Basile.
Mildred is survived by two sons, Charles Douglas Cowart and wife Judy and Gregory Keith Cowart and wife
Cindy of Greenwell Springs, LA; son-in-law, Raymond Ray Klumpp of Basile; nine grandchildren, Raymond
Carter Klumpp and wife Dana, Amber Klumpp Taylor, Kelley Klumpp Renner and husband Joel, William Brett
Cowart and wife Suzonne, Brian Douglas Cowart and wife Kandyce, Corey Brandon Cowart, Gregory K.
Cowart II and wife Amy, Courtney Blake Cowart and wife Jennifer, Joshua Perry Cowart and wife Jill;
and sixteen great grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Samantha, Drake, Danae, Hannah, Hayden, Joni, Luke,
Jacob, Zach, Hayes, Benjamin, Kaden, Lucy & Tanner.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Hendrick Langley Sr. and Viola Reed Langley of Basile, LA,
two brothers,Willard Langley of Memphis, TN and Hendrick Langley Jr. of Eunice, LA; her husband of 64 years
Ellis Cowart; and daughter, Shirley Ann Klumpp.
She was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, a member of the Church Choir and Ladies
Altar Society. She was the first Lay Minister under Father Jules Speyrer and a Lector for several years. She was
a longtime member of James Rougeau Post American Legion Auxillary
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Quirk and Son Funeral Home, 2916 Stagg Avenue, Basile, LA
on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at
8 a.m. for visitation until the time of service.
