Merlin Marcantel passed away on Thursday January 31, 2013 at the age of 71. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Eunice. Father Nathan Comeaux will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum. Merlin is survived by his wife, Sylvia Courville Marcantel of Eunice; three daughters, Melissa Reed and husband Wendell, Tina Marcantel and Vanessa Cormier and husband Troy, all of Eunice; one brother, Calbert Marcantel and wife Pat of San Marcos, TX; four grandchildren, Vicki Reed, Lucas Cormier, Celeste Cormier, and Emily Cormier. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oras and Gurnice Richard Marcantel. At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday February 1, 2013 from 10 AM to 10 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 6 PM that evening. The funeral home will reopen at 8 AM Saturday for visitation until time of services. Quirk & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
