In 1966 Mary Collier Fashions was created by Mary Tate Collier and her sister, Ethel Tate, forming a partnership with the intent to bring to the Eunice retail clothing market a quality product and fashionable styles with distinctive choices and custom made clothing needs. With Mary’s expert sewing abilities, an option that other shops did not offer, custom made wears were made to order for satisfied customers.
Early on her expert sewing skills were honed from her two sons clothing needs amoungst other sewing opportunities arose. In 1950 she bought a brand new Singer sewing machine. That same machine was used in the Mary Collier Fashions store for 18 years.
As a testament to her sewing skills, many complimentary comments from friends and customers that she was the best, making requested styles of garments from scratch or from a photo from various in-vogue magazines. Her other endeavors as a doctors assistant for two prominent physicians in Eunice, general practitioner/surgeon Dr. Stagg and optometrist Dr. LaHaye, but the dress shop and providing custom made wears was her true love and calling.
A great talent and store was missed when Mary Collier Fashions closed it’s doors after18 successufull years in 1984.
