With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we honor the life of Linda Faye Fontenot Guidry, who departed this world on August 23, 2026, at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles, Louisiana, at the age of 79. Born on May 13, 1947, Linda’s journey was one of compassion, devotion, and love that touched everyone she encountered.
Linda’s life was a radiant tapestry woven with kindness and unwavering dedication. Her heart and soul were poured into her calling as a nurse; for more than thirty years, she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse, bringing comfort and hope to patients and their families in hospitals and through home health. Those who knew her best saw nursing not merely as her profession, but as an extension of her spirit—she was called to care, and every moment spent at a patient’s side was a testament to her remarkable empathy.
Beyond her professional legacy, Linda’s warmth emanated through the family bonds she held dear. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Dennis Guidry, whose companionship was steadfast and enduring. Her daughter, Lisa Patton, and daughter-in-law, Shaunette Guidry, carry forward the strength and tenderness that Linda exemplified every day.
Linda’s legacy continues in her grandchildren—Adam Kyle Patton, Connor Matthew Patton, Gary Reeves, Christopher Reeves, and Kendall Reeves—who each brought joy and pride into her life. The laughter and curiosity of her great-grandchildren, Aven Kyle Patton and Massimo Class, delighted her heart and brought new chapters of happiness to family gatherings.
She now joins in eternal peace her beloved son, Chad Joseph Guidry; her parents, Murphy Joseph Fontenot and Agnes Johnson Fontenot; her brother Winnward Fontenot; her sister Lucy Bourgeois, and her great-grandson Alexander Matthew Patton. Linda’s love for them, both in this life and beyond, continues to echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A woman of gentle pleasures, Linda found joy in crafts and reading, pursuits that brought color and comfort to her days. Above all, Sunday dinners with her family were a cherished tradition—simple moments transformed into lifelong memories under her nurturing presence.
Linda Faye Fontenot Guidry’s impact will ripple through generations—a nurse whose care lingered long after her shifts, a mother and grandmother whose love formed the foundation of her family, and a friend whose warmth never waned.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 29, 2026, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, located at 2717 Dr. Bobby Deshotel Ave., Basile, LA 70515, with Father Keenan Brown as celebrant. An inurnment will follow at St. Augustine Columbarium.
Today, as we gather in remembrance, we hold Linda’s spirit close and find comfort in the legacy she established. Her life was one of grace, humility, and immeasurable love—a rare gift, forever held in the hearts of all who knew her.
