Bob is survived by his wife, Margie Revere Courville; two daughters, Jackie Deshotel and her husband Danny, Angie Wilson and her husband Jim; his bonus daughter, Joy Guidry; his brother, Authur Courville and his wife Shirley; sister-in-law, Pat Courville; four grandchildren, Ryan Deshotel, Katie Deshotel and companion Kelli Jo Soileau, Jo’lene Bossier and her husband Matt, Jonathan Bonck and his wife Laura; five great-grandchildren, Beau, Braeden, Rhett, Duke and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Courville; his parents, Isaac Courville and Lillie Fuselier Courville; his brother, Earl James Courville.

Bob graduated from LSU in 1958 with a degree in Medical Technology. He served the city of Eunice residents as lab technician and x-ray technician for over 62 years. He was passionate about taking care of his patients and made house calls for blood work to patients at home that could not travel. The residents of our local nursing homes were always glad to see his face bright and early in the mornings because he would draw their blood very early in the morning, so the folks could then enjoy their first cup of coffee. The only reason he had to put down his tourniquet and no longer draw blood was due to the first wave of Covid19 in March of 2020.

He had a great love of sports. He would go to almost every football practice to watch Ryan and Jonathan, parking his little blue VW Bug by the fence line so he could watch. He was proud of his granddaughters Katie and Jo’lene, watching Katie play softball, performing as Bruiser and watching Jo’lene perform with the Emeralds. He was a season ticket holder to Eunice High and would show up to watch our Bobcats Play. He would speak often of the LSU Tigers and would reminisce about all the games that he, Ryan, Danny and Jonathan made to Death Valley to watch the Tigers Play.

His life focused on three things: his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, his love for his family and his service to God. He served as a music director for over 70 years at different Baptist churches in the area. He loved to teach and lead his many choir members that he directed over the years. He served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School in French so the older French speaking folks could worship God in their primary language. Even as his voice changed as he aged, his wish was to serve as a music director until the Lord called him home. God blessed him with that last wish. Retirement from church service for him was not an option.

His love for his family spans over many years. He was very proud of his heritage, loved his parents, his brothers and their families. He was so blessed to have the Courville families all live in the Eunice area. Many great memories were made by spending so much time at the old farm where he grew up. He was a great provider to his family and guided the family as the spirituel leader. He took his role as Grandad very serious and was so very proud of his grandchildren. The great-grandchildren that followed were such a blessing to him.

His greatest joy outside of his relationship with God was his unfailing love for his bride of almost 68 years It was an amazement to the family and others of how he still called his wife, Margie, his bride. What a blessing it was for them to spend their latter years at home, sitting in matching recliners only inches apart so he could hold his bride’s hand. His greatest fear was that the Lord would call his bride home before him. The last few months, daily he would ask Margie to please promise him that she would not to home to Jesus first. In his heart, living a day in the earthly world without his bride was not something he could even contemplate. What a mighty God we serve. He lived his life by his faith in God and the privilege of knowing that he would be reunited with his family in heaven. There is sadness in his earthly passing, but such tremendous joy knowing he will be at the pearly gates waiting to welcome his remaining family home.
