Kermit Joseph Clavier passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2023 at St. Thomas Chapel with Father Korey Lavergne Celebrant. Burial followed in St. Thomas Cemetery. At the request of family, visitation was held at Quirk & Son from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 with a Rosary at 6:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation resumed at 10:00 AM on Wednesday until time of departure for Services. Kermit was born on October 4, 1933 to Theophine Richard Clavier and Felix Clavier, Sr. He had a large family of four brothers and four sisters. He was the third to youngest sibling. Coming from a large family, he knew the importance of family. He married his soul mate, Maxie Jane Saucier in 1954 and they had two wonderful children, a daughter born in 1956 and a son born in 1960. Maxie was his devoted wife for 69 years and Kermit was blessed to have the best wife and caretaker a man could ask for. Kermit was a transport driver for 36 years (with a great work ethic) before retiring at the age of 62. He was a volunteer driver for the VA for years. He was also a devoted Catholic and supporter of the church. His hobbies consisted of being a small farmer and raising livestock, horses and sheep to list a few. He was also an avid gardener, planting truck patches of all sorts of vegetables and sharing with family. He loved watching westerns and living his life like when things were simple. He had a horse named Flash that he raised from an infant and trained himself. He wasn't one to stay indoors, but rather sat on his tractor and bush hog for hours at a time. He would light the barbeque pit any chance he had and looked forward to holidays and family get togethers, since he treasured his entire family. He especially loved to travel on vacation with family and friends. He was also a Traiteur (treater) Kermit is survived by his wife, Maxie Saucier Clavier; one son, David Clavier (Rachel); one daughter, Linda Soileau (Gary); one brother, Dewey Clavier (Evelyn); sister-in-law, Mary Lee Clavier; four grandchildren, Chris Soileau, Katie Cormier (Justin), Jesse Clavier, Samantha Brown (Jason); eleven great-grandchildren, Preston, Camryn, Gracie, Brooklyn, Alex, Camille, Austin, Lane, Beau, Charleigh and Case. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Theophine Richard Clavier; three brothers, Leo Clavier, Sr., Felix Clavier, Jr., Berlin Clavier; four sisters, Freida Miller, Thelma Lavergne, Genevieve Atzenhoffer, Anna Mae Clavier.
