Kenneth James
Aguillard
February 7, 1948 – July 29, 2022
Kenneth James Aguillard passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the age of 74. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. At the request of family, visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2022 with a Rosary at 6:00 PM by Deacon Gaudin. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM on Tuesday until time of Services. Kenneth, an Army Veteran and devout Catholic, certainly lived a fulfilled life. Born and raised in "Tasso", a small community surrounding Eunice, he served as an altar boy at Savoy Catholic Church. Working as a bank teller in Eunice, he was drafted into the Army at 18 years old. In the Army, he was a medic serving in Thailand during the war in Vietnam. After his service, he returned home and worked for Acadian Ambulance, then in the emergency department at Opelousas General Hospital for over 20 years. He also worked in the emergency department at Moosa Memorial Hospital in Eunice where he retired from nursing. Ken enjoyed gardening, raising pigeons and rabbits, bar-be-queing, and could bake a cake from scratch. He always loved Cajun Music, Cajun dancing, and in his younger days enjoyed the Courir de Mardi Gras. Always quick witted, he had everyone laughing with a joke or his crazy antics. Ken really enjoyed telling stories of the old days: his life growing up in the country, his service in the Army, and tales from the hospital. Never having any children of his own, he enjoyed his nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephews, even down to the great-great nieces and nephews. Kenneth is survived by two nieces, Cheryl Olivier, Charlene Dupre and husband Paul; five great-nieces, Catherine Monceaux and husband Joe, Caroline Fontenot, Kimberly Stelly and husband Richard, Courtney Dupre, Brittany Olivier; three great-nephews, Joseph Benoit, Brock Guidry, Alex Olivier and wife Emily and numerous great great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Leger Aguillard; one sister, Carol Thompson and one nephew, Michael Olivier.
