A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph "Joey" Van Ortego, 8, on Tuesday, April 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier, LA, with burial to follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Father blake Dubroc will celebrate the mass, Father Tom Voorhies and Father Mitch Guidry will concelebrate. Visitation will begin for the public on Monday at 1:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice. A rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 6:00 PM by his grandfather, Deacon Charles "Chuck" Ortego. The funeral home will remain open until 10:00 PM. Tuesday visitation will begin at 8:00 AM at the funeral home until service time. Joey is survived by his parents, Mike and Nicole Miller Ortego; his sister, Marie Ortego; paternal grandparents, Deacon Charles "Chuck" and Loretta Ortego; maternal grandparents, Curt and Jeannette Miller.
