Joseph "Sugar Ray" Ray Daigle

Joseph “Sugar Ray” Ray Daigle, known for his steadfast kindness and unyielding devotion to family, passed away at home on July 21, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 21, 1952, in Eunice, Louisiana, "Ray's" journey came full circle in the same beloved town that shaped his remarkable life and witnessed the depth of his love for those closest to him.

Throughout his years of suffering, he continued to push himself. To know Ray was to be warmed by his spirit, to be welcomed as family, and to be inspired by his character. He was a people person who loved company, family gatherings and playing the jokester. He also loved going to the casino and listening to Cajun French Music. He often reminisced about his younger days going hand fishing with his late father. He was also a daily grocery shopper.

The foundation of Ray’s life was his cherished relationships, and none was more precious than his marriage to Becky Aymond Daigle, his beloved wife of 54 years and lifelong companion. Side by side, Ray and Becky built a home filled with laughter, resilience, and unconditional love—a legacy that remains in every heart he touched.

Ray poured the best of himself into his three children: Joseph Shane Daigle and wife Gena, Toby Orise Daigle and wife Megan, and Anna Chantell Daigle. His wisdom, humility, and steady hand guided their paths, and his presence will continue to echo in their lives. Ray’s deep devotion as a father was matched only by his pride as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He took endless joy in the lives of his grandchildren, Lauryn Zaunbrecher, Vivian Daigle, Noah Daigle, Nick Daigle, Gianna Daigle, Wyatt Daigle, and in seeing his love extend yet further to great-grandchildren, Maryelle Zaunbrecher, Eleanor Zaunbrecher, and River Daigle. He even had a great connection with his grandchildren's friends. His gentle guidance, storytelling, and humor were gifts he lovingly shared with each new generation.

Surrounded by family throughout his life, Ray also treasured the bond he shared with his sister, Clarice Godeaux and husband Carl. The strength of that sibling connection reflected the deeply rooted values instilled in him by his late parents, Lloyd Daigle and Nezida Thibodeaux Daigle. The memory of his dear granddaughter, Gracie Claire Daigle, who preceded him in death, remained always close to Ray’s heart.

Ray lived with a quiet yet profound grace, and his life was marked by moments of unspoken generosity and steadfast support for those around him. He greeted every neighbor as a friend and brought comfort to all who knew him, leaving traces of his compassion in the community of Eunice.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Ray’s life. Visitation will be held at Quirk & Son Funeral Home, 121 S 6th St, Eunice, LA 70535, on Friday, July 24th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM by Father Sam Fontana and the Men's ACTS group. Additional visitation will take place on Saturday, July 25th from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on July 25th with Father Sam Fontana Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
