He was one of my dad’s best friends. They lived across the street from each other in Eunice. I have so many memories of his mom. We could never drive onto the street without Mrs Bertrand stopping us, making us come in for a treat before going into my grandparents house. I have a Lopstick t-shirt still! My dad had to come in for one of the first celebrations and brought mom and I. Love you dear Johnny. Sad to see you leave, but I know my dad was there waiting to laugh with you again 💖

First I was a babysitter for he and Pat’s children, then he became a guardian to me in my young teenage years in advising me in my social life through high school, Later, he gave me my first real job at Bertrand’s Office Supply to help me pay my college tuition. Many years would go by between our visits but every time I saw him, it was like I just saw him the day before. Lapin always will have a special place in my heart. I imagine he made many people feel loved just when they needed a friend, like he always did to me. I look forward to one day seeing you again you at the gates my friend! I know you will be there with your ready smile.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Bertrand family! I have benefited greatly from the kindness of my friends Lapin and Willis!
