A funeral service for Joan J. Cortez, 65, will be held on Sunday, 1 PM , at Quirk & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Joan passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. She is survived by a sister, Bernadine Darbonne of Broussard and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Vernice Young Cortez; a brother, Jack Cortez; three sisters, Mary Lou Thibodeaux, Erin Prejean and Mercie Lee Lavergne.
