Ivan Shane Cortez passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the age of 34.

Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Basile. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

Shane is survived by his mother Deanna Cortez of Basile; three sisters, Heather Cortez and Jerome of Basile, Madeline Beal and Chantell of Eunice, and Selena Cortez of Mowata; one brother Jimmie Beal and wife Kesha of Iota; six nieces, Keona Cortez, Mariha Chaumont, Brittany Guidry, Harley Guidry, Cora Manuel, and Scottie Manuel; five nephews, Darren Chaumont, Traveon Cortez, Tyson Beal, Tao Guidry, and Tristen Manuel; and one great-nephew, Marcus Ceasar.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents, LD and Grace Cortez and brother-in-law, Steven Chaumont.
