Herlin Ray Himel, born on October 27, 1958, in Eunice, Louisiana, passed away on April 6, 2026 at the age of 67. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father John Dugas Celebrant. Following the Mass, interment of his ashes will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Herlin was a man who embraced life with a passionate spirit, enjoying hobbies such as duck hunting, fishing, and sports. These interests were not merely pastimes but avenues through which he connected with nature, enriching his life.

He is lovingly survived by his three daughters: Anne-Marie McGee and her husband Tyler, Meredith Himel, and Ceslie Habetz and her husband Jesse , as well as his seven grandchildren—Zoie Habetz, Lillian Habetz, Gregory Habetz, Mary-Katherine McGee, Olivia McGee, John Thomas McGee, and Anna-Claire Himel.

Herlin's family also includes four brothers, Raymond Himel, Jr. and his wife Pat, Thomas Himel and his wife Suzanne, Donald Wayne Himel, and John S. Himel; five sisters, Cora Cole, Gale Castille and her husband August, Grace Bellon and her husband Kenneth, Linda Himel and her husband Esteban Ibarra, and Donna Jorden and her husband Justin. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Lopez.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Raymond S. Himel, Sr. and Mary Lucy Leger Himel; his brother Paul Himel; sister Alice Lopez; and brother-in-law Ronald Cole, Sr.
