Rev. Father Henry James Broussard, Jr.

Oct 29, 1942 — Oct 6, 2026

Eunice, La

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Fr. Henry James Broussard, Jr. on October 6, 2026. Known to many as Fr. Henry, he was born on October 29, 1942, in Eunice, Louisiana. Throughout his life, Fr. Henry devoted himself to his faith and his community, serving as a beacon of hope, compassion, and spiritual guidance to all who knew him.

Fr. Henry was a humble servant of God, a devoted Catholic priest who led a life of service and sacrifice. He was ordained on April 22, 1972, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice, marking the beginning of a spiritual journey that would span over five decades. Fr. Henry's unwavering commitment to his calling was evident in his various roles throughout the years. He served as an associate pastor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rayne, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte, Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan, and later as a pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline, St. John Catholic Church in Henry, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leroy, St. Basil Catholic Church in Judice, and St. John Berchman Church in Cankton.

Fr. Henry's legacy is one of faith, love, and devotion. He was a source of comfort during times of sorrow, a guiding light in moments of doubt, and a pillar of strength in times of hardship. As we remember Fr. Henry, we are reminded of the verse from Matthew 25:21, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master."

Fr. Henry leaves behind his sisters, Celine B. Sittig and husband Dale, Linda B. Quirk and husband Bill, Susan "Susie" Broussard; niece, Celeste S. Broussard and husband Robert; nephews, Mitchell Dale Sittig, Kurt Sittig and wife Stacey, Neal Sittig and wife Laurel, and William L. Quirk, III; great nieces and nephews; and great-great niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry James Broussard, Sr. and Evelyn Guillory Broussard; his maternal grandparents, Isom J. and Marie Picou Guillory; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Corrine Manuel Broussard.
