Gursie Fontenot Fuselier, born on September 5, 1940, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2026. She lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a spirit that touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice with Father John Dugas officiating. Burial will follow at Reed Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of services, and a rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM by Fr. Dugas.

Gursie was deeply rooted in a career she cherished, having spent years in the antique business. Her passion for timeless treasures echoed her own appreciation for the beauty in carefully crafted things. Beyond her professional life, Gursie was a woman of many talents and interests that brought joy not only to herself but to her family as well.

Her love for jewelry was well-known among those close to her, a reflection of her elegant taste and eye for detail. She was an exceptional cook and baker, renowned for the best homemade filling, a culinary gift that gathered loved ones around the table more times than one could count. Gardening held a special place in her heart—she delighted in nurturing her pink flowers and sharing this passion with her grandchildren, creating memories rooted in the simple joys of nature's beauty. Shopping was another pastime she enjoyed, combining leisure with the thrill of discovery.

Family was at the center of Gursie's world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lester Fuselier; her son, Tod Fuselier; and her two daughters, Scotty Tullier and her husband Greg, and Kitty Gotreaux. She also leaves behind two loving sisters, Shella Fruge (Greg) and Monica Olivier. Her legacy extends richly through five grandchildren—Lacey, Dustin, Megan, Gabrielle, and Nicholas—who remember her fondly, especially noting a cherished tradition: visiting Olive Garden followed by a stop at Dillard’s in her memory. The family circle further embraces four great-grandchildren—Kaylee, Brayden, Chloe, and Landry—and one great-great-grandchild, Klover, all touched by her enduring love.

Gursie’s life was also shaped by those she loved who have passed on before her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Amelia Meche Fontenot; two brothers, Kelly Fontenot and NC Fontenot; and three sisters, Beverly Moreau, Dorothy Fontenot, and Clara Fontenot.

As we remember Gursie Fontenot Fuselier, we hold close the warmth of her kindness, the strength of her spirit, and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family, as did her beloved pink flowers she so lovingly tended and shared. In every gathering, in every shared meal, and in the quiet moments spent among cherished keepsakes, Gursie’s presence will forever be felt and remembered.
