Eldridge Louis LeJeune, born on March 29, 1936, peacefully passed away at his home on June 2, 2026. A devoted farmer and caretaker of his land and animals, Eldridge’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and dedication. Throughout his years, he tended to cows, donkeys, goats, miniature horses, and cultivated his beloved vegetable gardens with unwavering care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with Father Sam Fontana officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Mausoleum.

The family invites relatives and friends to attend visitation on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Father Sam Fontana will lead the Rosary at 6:30 PM that evening. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 AM and continue until departure for the Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM.

Eldridge’s devotion extended beyond the farm; he cherished his dog, Julie, a miniature Australian Shepherd, whose companionship brought him much joy. Among those who were closest to him was Craig "Allen" Winters, who was far more than just a farm helper — he was a trusted caretaker, Eldridge’s right-hand man, and someone he regarded like a son.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. Eldridge deeply loved his only child, his daughter Debbie Fontenot, and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Kory and Katy Fontenot, as well as his great-grandchild, Payton Fontenot. He is also lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Ethel Fuselier LeJeune; his four sisters, Lita LeJeune, Bertha Lavergne, Helen Brasseaux, and Barbara Primeaux (Charles) and his brother, Austin LeJeune.

Eldridge was preceded in death by his parents, Cyphor LeJeune and Annie Babineaux LeJeune; his son-in-law, Kenneth Ray Fontenot; three brothers, Nelson LeJeune, Wallace LeJeune, and Collan Lejeune; two sisters, Louise Prevost and Thelma Smith; as well as his grandson, Kody Todd Fontenot, along with numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A man who loved the simple pleasures of life, Eldridge found joy in his garden, tending to his little vegetable patch and nurturing the earth that sustained him through the years. His legacy is one of steadfast commitment—to his family, his farm, and those who walked beside him.

Eldridge Louis LeJeune will be remembered with respect and affection by all who knew him, a man whose life exemplified quiet strength, enduring love, and deep devotion. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the land he so loved.
