Edith Johnson Fontenot passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the age of 101. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating. Burial will follow in Rougeau Cemetery in Duralde. At the request of family, visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 with a Rosary at 6:00 PM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM on Thursday until time of Services. Edith is survived by three sons, Mike Fontenot and wife Patsy, Wayne Fontenot and companion Celina Thibodeaux, Donald Fontenot and companion Brenda Benoit; one sister, Laura Thaggard; seven grandchildren, Michael Paul Fontenot, Tray Fontenot, Troy Fontenot, Melanie Fontenot, Lori Fontenot, Sarah Christ, Josh Uhlman; eight great-grandchildren, Mica, Carson, Stephan, Kate, Dace, Breana, Layla and Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merces Fontenot; her parents, Demart and Louise Marcantel Johnson; six brothers, Vorice Johnson, J.C. Johnson, J.B. Johnson, C.B. Johnson, Tiny Johnson, Joe Johnson; three sisters, Ida Schultz, Hazzie Duplechain, Mildred Simon.
