Edina D. Smith passed away on Wednesday July 10, 2013 at the age of 93. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 12, 2013 at 1 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Father Clint Sensat will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Edina is survived by one daughter, Janel Aymond and husband Eldon of Eunice; four sons, Nelson Smith of Eunice, Hersey Smith of Mire, Bob Smith and wife Brenda of Rayne, and Ronald Smith and wife Sharon of Mamou; two brothers, Leroy Duplechien and wife Marie of Gonzales and Hilton Duplechien and wife Angie; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Colfad Duplechien and Alexandra Thibodeaux; her husband, Octave Smith; one daughter, Bernella Fontenot; one sister, Amezia Oliver; five brothers, Ovelian Duplechien, J.B. Duplechien, Lloyd Duplechien, Gene Duplechien, and Leon Duplechien. At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Thursday July 11, 2013 at 9 AM to 10 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon David Guillory at 6 PM that evening. The funeral home will reopen at 8 AM Friday for visitation until time of services. Quirk & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
