Dorsey J Thibodeaux was born in Rayne, Louisiana on July 28th, 1933. He was raised and met his beautiful bride, Bernadine, in Mowata, La. They made their home and raised their family in Eunice, La.
He could often be found in his red barn, creating beautiful wood furniture for family and friends, or tending garden with his "Berna" in their straw hats.
He was always learning and his big weathered hands never slowed. He taught himself to play accordion, carve, build and refinish furniture.
He loved camping with his wife, grandchildren and friends, creating memories that will resonate through generations.
He was a godly man, always trusting in God's plan and serving at his church, St. Lawrence in Mowata as a Eucharistic Minister & Knight of Columbus.
Called Papa by his grandchildren, he will be remembered for his advice, patience, the sound of his rocking chair, and his joy in having company over for coffee.
He could talk to the red birds with a whistle and quiet a baby with his deep, resonating voice. As Papa said, "Life is a mystery, it is what you make of it."
Dorsey is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Bernadine Thibodeaux; daughter Pauline (Louis) Roth, their children Tim (Shelley) Roth, Trey Roth, Ben (Rachael) Roth, & Allie (Will) Richter; son Mitch (Susan) Thibodeaux, their children Megan (Justin) Dupuy, Caroline (Judd) Parker, Kelly (Zach) Sanner, Nicole (Brock) Boudreaux, Tyler Thibodeaux, Philip (Logan) Thibodeaux, Vincent Thibodeaux; as well as great-grandchildren Parker, Savannah, Sloane, Wyatt, Madeleine, Fritz, Camille, Evelyn, Amelia, Wiley, Henry, Thomas, John Roland, Oliver, Hayes Dorsey, Penelope and Lillian.
