Dewey John Clavier, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Dewey was born to the late Felix Clavier, Sr. and Theophine Richard Clavier. A devoted husband and family man, Dewey and his beloved wife, Evelyn Darbonne Clavier, were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage, a milestone that reflected their lifelong love, commitment, and devotion to one another.
Known by his family as a "workaholic," Dewey spent many years working as a welder and truck driver. In his free time, he enjoyed watching western movies, loved music, and took great pride in playing the accordion. He also cherished playing cards and sharing suppers with his siblings and their spouses, moments that brought him great joy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Darbonne Clavier; three sons, Gregory Clavier, Sr. and wife Shelia, Victor John Clavier and wife Misty, and Kevin James Clavier and wife Heather; one daughter, Penny Stelly; twelve grandchildren, Caleb Darbonne, Kera Westbrook, Chelsea Stelly, Kaitlyn Stelly, Aiden Stelly, Kairi Clavier, Zoey Clavier, Ainsley Clavier, Joseph Clavier, Victoria Clavier, Gregory Clavier, Jr., and Justin Clavier; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leo Clavier, Sr., Felix Clavier, Jr., Kermit Clavier, and Berlin Clavier; and three sisters, Freida Clavier Miller, Thelma Clavier Lavergne, and Genevieve Clavier Atzenhoffer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Chapel, with Father Korey Lavergne serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
At the request of the family, visitation will begin on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 until time of services.
