Curzy "Pork Chop" Roy, age 79, of Ville Platte, La., died Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte, La. Curzy Roy was know in the local Cajun Music Community as "Pork Chop". He was a drummer most of his life for many cajun musicians starting with Harry Choates and performed on Harry's recording of "Jole Blon" in 1946. He played the drums for musicians such as Jimmy C. Newman, Hadley Castille, Ray Landry, and Donald Fontenot. He also played with old legends such as Nonc Allie Papa Kiroe, and Al Terry.
