Brandy lit a candle in memory of Courtney Granger
I met Courtney up at Augusta when he was just a kid, while I was a working as Liaison for Bois Sec. Bois Sec was so amazed that a child could play fiddle like that. Over the years, we shared a lot laughs, stories and watched the dancers and musicians, together and he always had a big hug waiting when I'd travel down to Louisiana to visit Bois Sec and everybody. Even though I got caught up in life and lost touch with him in recent years, I still considered him a dear friend and always thought we'd reconnect eventually. I'm so utterly devastated to learn that we won't be able to reconnect after all. I only just learned of his passing minutes ago and somehow didn't even realize he was so ill. If it's this devastating for me, I can't even imagine the devastation his family is feeling. My heart goes out to you all. He has been taken much, much too soon.
Courtney was a treasure in our south Louisiana musical culture that Our Lord needed more than we did. We will miss out on his talent. God will take good care of him. May perpetual light shine upon him now.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of Courtney's family and friends today. May that sweet boy RIP. It was an honour to have spent fun times with him and to hear his wonderful voice and fiddle playing. Courtney was a very special soul and has left a big hole in this world
I saw Courtney playing several times in Europe and also in Louisiana. I talked to him two years ago in England and besides all the talents he was a very nice man. He was a treasure keeper of traditional Cajun music and he shall be missed dearly. Sincerely condolences to his family, relatives and Friends who know him better than I do.
RIP Courtney and thanks for all the music you have made. 😢😢
I never had the pleasure of meeting Courtney in person, which I regret now more than ever before, but his music has been a constant part of my library since I first got into Cajun & country music a few years ago. Here we aren’t Cajun and we never understood what he was singing in those sort of songs but his talent alone won me and everyone I showed over very quickly. God bless him and his family.
Lori, I am so sorry to hear of your son’s passing. May God give you strength and courage, at this time, you most certainly need.
