Charles "Chookie" Wayne Derbes' Obituary
Charles W. “Chookie” Derbes, age 94, a retired pharmacist, died on Saturday, January 22, 2022. No Services will be held at this time.
“Chookie” was a graduate of Loyola School of Pharmacy, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific aboard the USS Gustafson DE 182.
He is survived by his second wife, Judith Gooch Derbes; three sons, Dr. Charles Derbes, Jr. and wife Kathleen, Douglas M. Derbes and companion Barbara, Thomas Derbes and wife Pat; one daughter, Lisa LeBouef and husband Russell; step-son, Bernard Francois and wife Dionne; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marilyn Milburn; parents, Chester J. and Camille Ardoin Derbes; brother, Chester Derbes, Jr. and wife Esther; step-daughter, Becky Francois; daughter in law, Jennifer Derbes.
In lieu of flowers, “Chookie’s” wish was that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
