Obituary

Andy James Fontenot, born on June 24, 1969, and passing from this world on April 14, 2026, left an indelible mark on all who knew him through his spirited creativity and the warmth of his heart. A man whose hands transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary, Andy crafted art from the most unexpected of sources—automobile tires—turning what might have been discarded into striking pieces that spoke of boundless ingenuity. This unique artistic vision was but a window into the man he was: vibrant, original, and endlessly resourceful.

Andy’s front yard, where he held his own flea market, was more than just a place of commerce—it was a lively crossroads of community, memory, and laughter. Here neighbors and visitors alike could discover treasures not only on tables but in the stories and connections woven through the days he spent there. It was a gathering spot that showcased his generous spirit and love for bringing people together.

His journey will be commemorated with a Memorial Service held on April 18, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding at 3:00 PM, at Freedom Baptist Church. Burial of his ashes in Ashford Cemetery will follow services.

He leaves behind his only child, his daughter, Katherine Fontenot and her fiancé, Matthew Boone, as well as his precious grandchildren, Kinsley and Audrey, who will carry his memory into the future with every smile and story shared. His close-knit family also includes four brothers—Bobby Fontenot and his wife Denise, Ray Boy Fontenot, Lionel Fontenot and his wife Natalie, and Orese Fontenot—along with his two sisters, Janice McGee and Dutchess Rougeau and her husband, Shane. The fabric of Andy’s life was enriched by numerous nieces and nephews, each touched by his kindness and unique character.

Andy’s departure leaves echoes of love that cannot be dimmed by absence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roddie Fontenot and Joanne Lacombe Fontenot; his brother, Eddie Fontenot; his sister, Roxanne Fontenot; and by his niece Amanda Fontenot and nephew John “Monk” McClelland, all of whom reside now in the quiet peace of memory alongside him.

In remembering Andy James Fontenot, we hold close the vivid images of his artistry, the lively scenes of his yard flea market, and the profound connections he nurtured. His life was a vivid tapestry of ingenuity, family devotion, and community spirit—a legacy that will resonate in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
